No one wants ice cream in their carpet, but sometimes accidents happen! Here’s how you can get the ice cream out of your carpet and avoid a nasty stain.
1. Scrape away all the ice cream you can
Before you start cleaning, use some kind of scraping tool to scrape away as much ice cream as you can. If the ice cream has already dried, you should try to remove the caked on stain.
2. Sponge the area with a cleaning solvent
Use a cleaning solvent that’s designed for carpets, and sponge clean the area. It’s important that you don’t scrub too hard. This can work the stain further into the carpet. Use gentle motions to slowly work away at the stain.
3. Dab at the area with a dry cloth
Take a dry cloth and dab away at the area, removing as much moisture as you can. You’ll see much of the stain come up along with the cloth. Change out your cloth when it becomes covered with the stain.
4. Cover the area with a damp cloth
Wet a cloth with a mixture of water and your carpet cleaning solvent. Wring it out until it’s damp rather than dry, and then apply it to the stained area. Leave it to sit for 30 minutes.
5. Flush the area with water
After the 30 minutes has passed, remove the cloth and flush the area out with water. Allow it to dry, and then examine it again. If there are still signs of the stain, you may want to repeat this process again from the beginning. Sometimes, it takes a number of steps to get rid of a stain completely. Removing ice cream stains is difficult, but it can be done.
