Having Your Carpet Cleaned Professionally Improves The Indoor Air
In addition to enjoying clean carpets that are fresh, look good, and will last longer, a regular professional cleaning of your carpets will also improve the air quality indoors.
Indoor carpeting is the perfect medium for the growth of mold and bacteria. Mites, bacteria, and fungi are commonly found in carpets, largely being tracked in from the outdoors. When older carpets are removed from a space in a home, it can be a very interesting and sobering experience when you see all of the debris and experience the smell that comes from under the old carpet.
One of the most common results of bacteria and biologic irritants in carpets are allergies and their symptoms such as chronic coughing, runny nose, breathing difficulties, headaches, fatigue and watery eyes. Pollen and other allergy causing agents stick to carpets like flies to flypaper, and they will accumulate, unless removed by deep cleaning.
Dirt and dust harbor mites, which are not dangerous in and of themselves, but their body parts and feces encourage the growth of bacteria which can cause illness and allergies. Dust and dirt accumulates naturally through living on top of the carpet and tracking it in as we go in and out of our houses.
All of these items are released into the air as we walk on the carpet and move around on top of it. The only way to get rid of these irritants is to steam clean the carpet, where the heat from the steam not only cleans the carpet, but it kills the harmful pathogens, mites, and fungi that cause all of the problems.
A regular cleaning of this type should be done at least twice per year, if not more often if the carpet gets dirty quickly, to ensure that maximum care is taken to keep these items under control.
